Longines Premiere at the Gymnastics Worlds in London
LONDON (GBR), FIG Office, October 12, 2009: Written press accredited for the 41st Artistic Gymnastics World Championships in London (GBR) will be provided with competition data in real time, compliments of watchmaker Longines, exclusive partner of the FIG. This technological advance gives the media a chance to consult online and live the scores and intermediate and final rankings of athletes during the competition. Gymnast biographical data will also be made available.
Launched in gymnastics at the Stuttgart (GER) worlds in 1989, the service is known in media circles as CIS (Commentator Information System). Longines initially offered the system exclusively to television commentators onsite at various competition venues. Expertise, new technologies and the political drive to broaden information availability are target issues at London’s premiere event.
The FIG and Longines jointly presented the Web CIS to 402 accredited media representatives in London at the opening press conference that took place today in the O2.
